Our Heartfelt Mission
Every year, nearly 120 billion pounds of food waste are produced by the United States alone. Partnering with the 501(c)(3) nationwide nonprofit Food Rescue US, our mission is to stop this, while also helping struggling members of our community. Additionally, we want to bring the issue of food insecurity to broader attention in Connecticut, specifically in Fairfield County.
Procedure
First, we receive information from local food donors, such as restaurants or grocery stores, that they have excess food available for donation. Then, we reach out to social service agencies that would be willing to accept the donation. Finally, our volunteers “bridge” the gap, transporting the food and making sure it does not go to waste.
